Purpose-Powered Marketing
Monday, July 17 • 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

What’s the difference between marketing that sparks attention season after season… and lackluster campaigns that fail to take flight?  It’s not about budget or manpower: great marketing campaigns are powered by purpose. This session is designed to help you uncover your brand’s identity, weave it into a cohesive company culture, and communicate your story with audiences eager to discover who you are. A dynamic panel consisting of a grower, a trade brand, and an IGC retailer will help you learn to:

  • Crystalize your brand identity
  • Translate your identity into purpose, values, and company culture
  • Market your identity and purpose to the audiences that matter most

Moderated by 30-year industry marketing leader Garden Media Group, our panelists share an inside look at how they dug deep to discover their brand identity, and the tactics they used to translate it into multi-million dollar growth and success.

Zach Ryan, Key Account Manager at Flowerwood Nursery
Zach joined Flowerwood Nursery in 2014. He grew up in the industry and has loved the Horticulture and Landscape industries his whole life. He owned a landscaping company for 7 years in Atlanta, but realizing he preferred the rewholesale/nursery/plant production aspects, Zach and his wife moved to Southern Alabama to pursue his career with Flowerwood Nursery. He enjoys quality time with his wife and 3 young daughters, saltwater fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and beach days with the family. Zach’s favorite plant? Encore Azalea, or the vivid color contrast in the landscape delivered by loropetalums with Sunshine Ligustrum or golden conifers.

    Flowerwood Nursery -- Since 1938 .... A third-generation family-owned wholesale nursery
Begun as the backyard hobby of Harry H. Smith, Flowerwood Nursery was incorporated as a nursery in 1946. A third-generation family-owned wholesale nursery selling only to the trade with locations in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Flowerwood provides broadleaf evergreens, conifers, deciduous shrubs, grasses, groundcovers, trees, perennials, and seasonal color throughout the Southern and Mid-Atlantic states.

Flowerwood Nursery specializes in improved products, including the many varieties of Encore® Azalea, offering more blooms, more often. Selections like Encore Azaleas, the Southern Living® Plant Collection, Endless Summer® Hydrangeas, the Knock Out® Family of Roses, and Anthony Tesselaar products (along with other known industry favorites) help create a product mix designed to satisfy the needs of retail garden centers and professional landscapers.
