Protecting the environment and bettering the planet is the right thing to do but how do we know we’re making an impact? These sustainability experts will share the full spectrum of how sustainable environmental practices become sustainable and measurable business practices. Specific topics include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, energy use and waste, recycling, responsible sourcing, sustainable forestry, and water stewardship. Have you ever wondered how paper is made? We’ll cover that, too. From responsible forestry to converted fiber-based product, attendees will see and feel wood pulp at all phases in the papermaking process. Join us as we embrace our responsibility to promote the health of the environment for future generations.

About Our Speaker:

Doug Sharo, Sr Manager, Sustainability Analytics & Reporting at WestRock
Doug Sharo is Sr Manager, Sustainability Analytics & Reporting for WestRock. In this role, he is responsible for supporting the company-wide approach to sustainability by leading the sustainability team’s data management, metrics, and external reporting initiatives. This includes tracking and reporting progress on our targets, including our science-based target for greenhouse gas emissions, and the development of the company’s sustainability report.

Doug is a board member of Keep Virginia Beautiful. He earned a BA in political science from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Business. In his spare time, Doug enjoys exploring new places to hike, kayaking local rivers, playing hockey and spending as much time as possible with his wife and 2-year-old daughter.
