Embrace Nature to Dramatically Improve Processes
Monday, July 17 • 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Have you ever researched, planned, and implemented a genius process improvement solution…only to watch one small glitch cause another, and another, until the whole process falls into disarray? If you’ve ever experienced this, you’re not alone. Process improvement can be a challenging task in horticulture, especially amid pressures to adopt smart technologies and lean manufacturing practices during a critical labor shortage. Is it even possible to improve processes during such rapid times of change?

The answer is yes, and the solution is simpler than you might think: Embrace Nature. Horticulturists intuitively embrace the nature of plants, but it’s easy to overlook the other types of nature which determine the success of our processes. This session will teach participants key lessons, questions, and exercises to align the nature of processes, the nature of people, and the nature of plants, to dramatically improve processes at their core.

Della Fetzer, Founder at Rebel Cultures
Della is the founder of Rebel Cultures, a company developing the first lab-free method of disease-free young plant replication (AKA lab-free TC). Della is a former plant tissue culture lab director for one of the largest perennial producers in the US, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and an experienced laboratory consultant and project manager. Her experience includes leading complex projects such as the development and deployment of custom horticulture production software which increased laboratory production efficiency by 40%. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in biology, and has graduate research experience resulting in a publication during studies at China Agriculture University in Beijing, China.

    The Plant Replicator™
Developed by tissue culture scientists, engineers, and plant enthusiasts with a single goal: radically simplify disease-free plant replication for a world with enough plants. The Plant Replicator™ is the first specialized, warehouse-ready, patent-pending device capable of producing better-than-tissue culture-quality plants for commercial plant producers.

    "Lab-Free TC"
Our vision is a world with enough plants?. Making it a reality means we have to do things more than a little differently, hence our name: Rebel Cultures. Plant tissue culture is the fastest way to produce disease-free plants, but today's global value stream is too tangled and expensive for many plant producers to access due to high labor and laboratory costs.

Using patent-pending technology that mimics a perfect plant tissue culture environment while keeping plants clean outside of the lab, our mission is to untangle one of the most complex processes in plant production for a more affordable, equitable, sustainable, and enjoyable world with enough plants.
