Ben Pecnik, Vice President at Louisiana Nursery
Benjamin Pecnik is the Vice President of Louisiana Nursery, an independent garden center with three locations located in Baton Rouge Louisiana. With over 40 years of serving Baton Rouge and its surrounding areas, it has become a local favorite for fulfilling all your home and garden needs. Louisiana Nurseries growth in the Baton Rouge area has not yet peaked, as there are already plans for two additional locations on the horizon.

Louisiana Nursery is highly involved in the Baton Rouge Community. They believe that the best way to impact their current customer is to focus on their past and future customer. They do this by focusing their time and attention on various schools and assisted living facilities. Benjamin began his career in IGC as a manager for another Louisiana retail garden center in Lafayette Louisiana. From there Benjamin branched off into the corporate retail world spending 7 years working through the ranks, and ultimately finishing his journey as a store manager. During that time, he gained numerous skills such as Change Management, Team Training & Development, Loss Prevention, Strategic Planning & Organizing, Ecommerce Management, and much more. According to Benjamin, his most rewarding experiences involved either helping open new locations and or addressing and fixing broken locations.

As of February 2022, Benjamin has made it full circle back into the IGC industry. He is committed to helping drive the green industry into the future by supporting new technologies that will revolutionize how we fulfill consumer needs, and drastically change how we manage, train, and develop our staff into future industry leaders. His passions include plants & Gardening, Camping and Primitive Skills, but most of all Fishing. Being fluent in many forms of fishing from deep sea to fly, his dream is to catch a fish in every state in the US, and then move on to other countries. Currently, He is well on his way to achieving this goal.

    Family Owned Since February 1983
Louisiana Nursery is a family-owned business that opened in February 1983 when Roger Mayes found himself job hunting for the first time in his professional career. He’d dedicated the previous 25 years of his life (from the age of 16) working for Woolco, a popular retail store at the time. He might have spent his entire career there, but fate had other plans for Roger when Woolco stores began unexpectedly closing, including the location where he worked.

We have an extensive list of growers from which our in-house buyers source only the best plants that perform the best locally. The big box stores buy for regions like the Gulf Coast, while Louisiana Nursery buys not only for South Louisiana, but sometimes drills down to microclimates, meaning what performs best here in Baton Rouge (not New Orleans or Shreveport). It’s this dedication to quality that gives you peace of mind when you invest in our plants.
