John Dole
Associate Dean and Director for Academic Programs at North Carolina State University
John Dole is Associate Dean and Director of Academic Programs for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at NC State University. He is currently the Executive Advisor for the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG), a 2100-member national organization devoted to the production and utilization of cut flowers. Dole conducts research on cut flowers including new cultivar evaluations, production studies, postharvest experiments, and marketing analysis. In cooperation with the ASCFG, NC State co-coordinate the national ASCFG Seed, Perennial and Woody Plant Trial Programs, which includes twelve to forty participating growers around the United States and Canada. He teaches a graduate level Physiology of Flowering course and authored or co-authored seven books including Postharvest Handling of Cut Flowers and Greens, Beautiful Branches: Woody Cut Stems for Flowers, Fruit and Foliage and Floriculture - Principles and Species.

Hi and welcome to NC State's Department of Horticultural Science. My name is Lis Meyer and I'm a Senior Lecturer here. I'm also an alum of this department. So right now I'm standing in a garden area that was installed and designed by our students in a class here. And what I'd like to do now is just take you on a short tour of some of the spaces you'll [students will] be using during your time here. This is Kilgore Hall it's the main building for Horticultural Science at NC State so you'll be spending a lot of time here.
